Elbridge G. Spaulding – Buffalonian (1809-1897) was an associate of Millard Fillmore, Mayor of Buffalo, Congressman, Advisor to Lincoln, banker, author, store owner (Spaulding’s Exchange), and he introduced paper currency making him the “Father of Greenback.”

Fun Fact: the clock that is close to the pinnacle of the tower was a gift from Elbridge G. Spaulding!
